The Role

To meet the growing demand for our services, WRM Water & Environment is seeking Graduate Water Resources Engineers to join our Brisbane and Darwin offices from 2025. We are open to applications from recent graduates with some experience, or students in their final year looking to commence on graduation. These are hands-on, technical roles, tackling crucial challenges around flooding, stormwater drainage, water management and water quality. From day one you will be involved in data gathering, analysis and developing hydrologic, hydraulic and water management models for a range of major infrastructure, mining, development and floodplain management projects. With 1:1 mentorship for technical and career guidance, we will support and encourage you to grow professionally and personally and attain your RPEQ certification. 

Typical projects include :-

  • modelling flood behaviour,
  • assessing water quality impacts,
  • water management plans,
  • managing stormwater drainage,
  • environmental compliance,
  • water balance modelling, and
  • designing engineering infrastructure such as levees and river diversions.

The main software you will be trained to use includes TUFLOW, URBS, GOLDSIM, QGIS, 12D and Python.

You

As a graduate engineer with an interest in surface water, you will be seeking a long term career in a secure, specialist consultancy firm. You will flourish in an environment where you are part of an expert team, have direct access to specialists and undertake interesting, complex and varied projects.

With a degree in civil, environmental or chemical engineering, the desirable competencies are:

  • Strong numerical and computer skills with high attention to detail.
  • Familiarity or a willingness to learn water modelling software such as TUFLOW, URBS, GOLDSIM, QGIS, 12D and Python.
  • Exposure to CAD software such as AutoCaD Civil3D would be an advantage.
  • A desire to produce high quality technical work.
  • Good interpersonal skills.
