Accountant - Business Services (full time or part time)

A Typical Day

You’ll be engaged with a diverse client base across various industries, with a focus on small businesses, start-ups, and some long-established companies. Located in the vibrant inner northern suburb of Grange, you’ll work in a growing team of three, where your contributions are recognised and appreciated. Your responsibilities will include:

• Preparing company partnerships and trust tax returns
• Lodging and reviewing instalment activity statements
• Preparing and lodging quarterly and annual BAS
• Finalising financial accounts by recording year end journal entries
• Reconciling ATO portal accounts with client GST and income tax accounts
• Ensuring compliance with tax obligations related to PAYG withholding PAYG instalments, payroll tax and superannuation

For Senior Accountants, your role will also encompass:

• Providing strategic tax advice to clients
• Overseeing financial operations & reporting
• Conducting financial analysis and ensuring regulatory compliance
• Mentoring and guiding less experienced team members

We use Reckon Elite Practice Management Software and most of our clients are on Xero (preferred) MYOB and a small number on Quickbooks.

About You

You’re an experienced Business Services Accountant who takes pride in delivering high-quality work and thrives in a supportive, fast-paced, collaborative team environment. Whether you're an Intermediate or Senior Accountant, returning to the workforce or seeking a better work life balance, we’re looking for someone who is passionate about continuous learning and development while making a positive impact on clients and the business.

• You’re Qualified: You have a degree in Accounting or a related field, and you're progressing towards or have achieved your CA/CPA qualification.
• You’re Experienced: You have hands-on experience in business services, preparing company, partnership, and trust tax returns, managing BAS and activity statements, and ensuring compliance with tax obligations. You are confident in your ability to handle a variety of accounting tasks and have an understanding of relevant tax laws and regulations.
• You’re Quality Focused: You have a strong attention to detail and ensure that every job you complete is of the highest quality, whether it’s reconciling accounts or finalising financial reports.
• You’re a Problem-Solver: You enjoy identifying complex accounting issues and applying your technical knowledge to find the best solutions.
