At Investa, we’re seeking a Finance Manager to join our finance team, where you will support and assist the Group Financial Controller to provide optimum deliverables in the areas of compliance, financial and tax reporting for several entities. You’ll manage and ensure our month end processes are performed in an efficient and timely manner.  This role is a 6-month fixed-term contract.
Providing high quality and timely audited financial statements your responsibilities will include:
Financial Control & Compliance: 

  • Review balance sheet reconciliations,
  • Review Operating lease calculations in accordance with AASB 16 and Development Management fees in accordance with AASB 15,
  • Review calculations to ensure that the AFSL requirements are being met by the licence holders,
  • Assist the resolution of any accounting technical matters and effectively interface with the Tax team regarding taxation matters,
  • Preparation of accounting papers.

Tax Reporting: 

  • Prepare the monthly/ quarterly activity statements (BAS and IAS) for the Group entities and lodge them,
  • Ensure timely and accurate preparation and reporting of Fringe Benefits Tax liability, including working with external tax advisers to lodge the FBT return,
  • Ensure timely and accurate preparation and reporting of Payroll Tax liability and workers compensation for employees in 3 states.

Financial Reporting:

  • Prepare annual streamlined financial report of the Group and / or annual financial accounts for our funds management business,
  • Assist in the management of the external audit of the Group,
  • Prepare annual financial report of subsidiary AFSL companies,
  • Management of the month end reporting including confirming monthly unit pricing
  • Tax reporting, including review of income tax and GST returns with our external tax providers

Policy & Compliance:

  • Provide recommendations regarding policies and governance issues.
  • Early identification and reporting of potential risks to statutory compliance.
  • Review all debt compliance covenant certificates (as required).
  • Preparation of materials for the internal Management Accounts Committee.

What you will need to be successful: 

  • CA or CPA qualification 
  • Commerce or Business / Commerce Degree majoring in Accounting 
  • Proven stakeholder management and communication skills
  • Strong knowledge of accounting and reporting systems
  • Demonstrated experience in preparation of Statutory Reports and Income Tax Returns for Trusts and Companies
  • Knowledge of tax requirements, calculations for property funds, accounting controls and processes
  • Knowledge and understanding of accounting standards and statutory reporting requirements
  • Experience within property sector 
  • Advanced Excel, PowerPoint and Word
  • Hands on approach to getting the job done
  • Teamwork and team development both within the direct team and a broader matrixed finance group
  • Extensive use of financial systems
