Primary Function of Position:

Joining Intuitive Surgical means joining a team dedicated to using technology to benefit patients by improving surgical efficacy and decreasing surgical invasiveness, with patient safety as our highest priority. Primary Function of Position: Work as part of the Technical Publications team and support various elements of the localization workflow from request creation to job completion. Work with translation manager, technical writers, project managers and documentation specialist to proofread translations following a style guide and formatting checklist. Manage and track translation project status with cross-functional teams and translation suppliers.


Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Plan, scope, execute and monitor localization projects by working with the technical writers, information architect, DITA specialist, documentation specialists, eIFU specialist, project managers and external translation vendors
  • Lead kickoff and regular meetings with translation suppliers with written communications to prioritize, monitor and track projects status
  • Manage schedule challenges, queries and mitigate project risks supporting the project timeline
  • Collaborate with relevant stakeholders to resolve questions or conflicts related to source files, terminology, language quality, and workflow
  • Provide mentorship and training to peer and team members
  • Complete documentation control steps to release final documentation, including change orders in the document control system
  • Identify and participate in process improvement initiatives.
  • Support technical writers, labeling specialists, and project managers on technical publication and global labeling deliverables.
  • Proofread English source files and translations following style guide and proofreading checklist.
  • Mitigate and resolve translation quality issues with suppliers and cross-functional teams in varying locations and time zones.
  • Flexible to support various other duties and assignments as requested to assist the overall function of the department.


Skills, Experience, Education, & Training:

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field preferred
  • Proficiency in another language
  • 6-8 years of relevant localization experience required
  • General knowledge of labeling processes in a regulated environment preferred
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office required
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills across global and culturally diverse teams required
  • Ability to work well independently and with teams required
  • Highly organized with ability to prioritize highly preferred
  • Strong analytical problem-solving skills preferred
  • Experience with enterprise change management systems preferred
  • Demonstrable ability to make decisions and stay focused in a fast-paced environment
  • Demonstrable skills in leadership, communication (written and presentation), and matrix management
