About Us
With over 85 years of tangible impact, we have carved out our place as a leader in water infrastructure across Australia and New Zealand. Embrace the opportunity to be part of our dynamic team creating the future of water for generations to come. Your expertise and dedication will play a pivotal role in our continued success and be a driving force in our journey towards a water-resilient world.
The Opportunity
This is a high-impact, hands-on leadership role focused on improving how our projects are actually delivered.
Working closely with site and project teams, you’ll identify productivity opportunities, improve work methods and implement practical solutions that enhance safety, quality and efficiency on live projects. This is not a desk based improvement role - you’ll be regularly on site, observing workflows, understanding constraints and working directly with teams to trial better ways of working.
You’ll lead a small team of Continuous Improvement Engineers, building capability through real project based problem solving. Your focus will be on ensuring initiatives deliver measurable outcomes and become part of standard ways of working across the business.
With the autonomy to prioritise initiatives and apply Lean thinking in a practical, operational environment, you’ll play a key role in reducing waste, improving flow of work and increasing consistency in how projects are delivered. You will manage initiatives end-to-end, from identifying opportunities through to implementation, benefit realisation and embedding improvements into standard work and training.
This role sits at the intersection of engineering, operations and continuous improvement, influencing how work is performed in the field, not just how it is planned.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Work directly with site and project teams to observe workflows, identify constraints and improve work methods
- Lead and prioritise continuous improvement initiatives focused on productivity, safety, quality and consistency
- Trial and implement practical solutions on live projects
- Apply Lean thinking and structured problem solving to eliminate waste and reduce variability
- Lead end-to-end delivery of improvement initiatives, including planning, resourcing, implementation and benefit tracking
- Embed successful improvements into standard work, training and day-to-day operations
- Lead, coach and develop a small team of Continuous Improvement Engineers through real project work
- Build strong relationships across Engineering, Delivery and support teams to drive adoption and sustain improvements.
What You’ll Bring
- Degree qualifications in Engineering (Civil, Mechanical, Construction, or related field), or a relevant technical discipline
- Experience applying Lean principles and continuous improvement methodologies in an operational environment (e.g. construction, infrastructure, manufacturing or similar)
- Strong ability to translate technical concepts into practical, field-ready solutions
- Experience working closely with frontline teams and influencing change in live operational environments
- Strong problem-solving capability, with a focus on practical outcomes rather than theory
- Ability to lead initiatives from concept through to implementation and embedding
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills across site and leadership levels
