About the Role

We’re seeking a casual Chef at our Edge Hill Orchards care home. Reporting to the General Manager and Chef Manager, you’ll prepare and cook nutritious meals and snacks, supervise kitchen staff, ensure a safe, hygienic and welcoming kitchen that supports resident wellbeing. Key responsibilities include:

  • Create delicious, nutritious meals that respect residents’ individual dietary needs, preferences, and cultural backgrounds.
  • Take pride in delivering service excellence through high-quality cooking, implementing quarterly seasonal menus that inspire variety, enjoyment, and consistent standards, while maintaining exceptional food safety and presentation.
  • Lead and motivate kitchen staff, fostering teamwork and smooth day-to-day operations.
  • Oversee food purchasing, stock control, and kitchen operations to ensure efficiency and quality.
  • Cater for special occasions, celebrations, and community events.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and well-organised kitchen that supports a positive dining experience for residents.

This is a physically active role requiring daily bending, squatting, lifting, and pushing. You must be able to perform these tasks safely to protect yourself, your team, and our residents.

About You

The Chef is a key member of the Hotel Services Team, preparing nutritious, resident-focused meals that support health and well-being. Working closely with the care team, they ensure meals meet individual dietary needs, maintain food safety standards, and contribute to a positive dining experience in a respectful, supportive environment. You’ll bring:

  •  Hold a Certificate III or higher in Commercial Cookery.
  •  Food Safety Supervisor certificate desirable.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to liaise with a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Committed to safety, upskilling, continuous learning and bring a resident-focused mindset to all aspects of your work.
  • Previous experience in Aged Care or Health is highly regarded.
