The Opportunity

We are seeking a passionate and experienced Industrial Relations (IR) Specialist to join our People & Culture team in our National Support Office on the Gold Coast. This newly created role offers a rare opportunity to lead and support the organisation’s industrial relations agenda. Reporting to our People Services Manager within a purpose-driven, fast-paced aged care provider, you will thrive on providing expert industrial relations guidance, driving proactive compliance and ensuring organisational readiness in response to evolving legislation and employment practices.
Our Role
As a trusted advisor and strategic partner, your role will:
- Provide expert advice on awards, enterprise agreements, and employment legislation.
- Support complex case management, including grievances and change processes.
- Lead IR policy development and prevention strategies, including sexual harassment compliance.
- Assist in enterprise bargaining processes and build strong relationships with unions.
- Oversee employment contract governance and contribute to legal review processes.
- Partner with Payroll and Workforce Optimisation to ensure that workforce systems correctly reflect industrial instrument entitlements, interpretations and compliance requirements.
- Conduct audits and reviews of role classifications and contract types.
- Monitor regulatory changes and lead implementation of required updates.
- Contribute to acquisition integration, change planning, and workforce consultation.
About you
You’re a confident communicator, trusted advisor, and detail-oriented IR professional with a strong understanding of Australia’s industrial relations framework. You enjoy translating complex obligations into practical, compliant processes and building capability across the organisation.
To succeed in this role, you will have:
- Tertiary qualification in Industrial Relations, HR or related field.
- At least 3–5 years’ experience in IR or employment relations in a complex or regulated industry.
- Proven ability to interpret and apply legislation, awards, and enterprise agreements.
- Experience working with HR/payroll systems to ensure system-based compliance.
- Strong capability in policy leadership, contract review, and cross-functional collaboration.
- Demonstrated experience in managing legislative updates and implementing organisation-wide responses.
