Ian Martin has teamed up with a privately owned/ operated Steel company that is known to be the leader in North America's Flat-Rolled service centers for both domestic and export Steel markets. With over 50 years of business, they have facilities within Canada and the U.S and are known for their leading-edge equipment and Best- in -Class quality!

As the new Maintenance and Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for a group of facilities within Stoney Creek (surrounding area). As the new Maintenance and Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for all maintenance, engineering, and operational efficiency for all the production equipment, material handling devices and buildings. As well as, overseeing the department’s preventative maintenance program to continually improve machine performance and production uptime.


Day to Day:

  • The layout of Facilities and New Production Equipment
  • Tracks industry trends and technology, participate in the study and selection of new equipment or modifications to existing equipment and provides the Vice President of Operations with the input required to make new equipment acquisitions.
  • Equipment Maintenance & Repair. Tracking and monitoring production equipment performance and implementing a Preventative Maintenance plan
  • Program of systematic care for all production machinery and parts.
  • Establishes procedures and directs emergency plant maintenance activities.
  • Process Control - Use data gathered by Operations, make recommendations, and act upon data to improve the company’s control of production processes.
  • Staff Management & Development - Ensures that adequate skilled personnel is in place in the Maintenance Department.
  • Internal Communications- Interact with all departments and participate in both special purpose and regularly scheduled meetings with other department managers to share information, observe trends, and agree upon actions to be taken to support corporate objectives (i.e. Weekly Production Meetings, Quarterly Management Meetings, various continuous improvement group meetings, etc.).
  • Radiation Safety Officer - Responsible for the management, effectiveness, and control of the radiation safety program.
  • Ensures the proper use and maintenance of the fixed gauges and proper procedures are followed.
  • Ensures that all leak tests are completed in a timely manner and that proper signage is in place at each gauge.


Experience and Qualifications:

  • Electrical or Mechanical Engineering Degree
  • Professional Engineer in Ontario license ( or pursuing a P.Eng)
  • 10 years of industrial experience
  • ISO 9001/QS 9000 knowledge
  • OHSA knowledge
