Geoscientist - Project Engineer

  • Pay Range $80,000-$100,000/ annual with RRSP and Benefits

Ian Martin Workforce is working alongside a reputable engineering firm that has been in business for over 30 years specializing in land use planning, environmental services, and Structural and Civil and Water Resources Engineering

Working within the Environmental Services Group, the Geoscientist Project Engineer is responsible for conducting soil investigations as well as excavation and drilling supervision, soil sample collection and laboratory coordination, soil logging, reporting, and result interpretation

Day to Day Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and manage subsurface investigations required under Ontario Regulation 153/04 and Ontario Regulation 406/19.
  • Prepare proposals, including cost estimates, schedules, and execution plans.
  • Compile project specifications and provide support to contractors at the time of tender and during construction.
  • Liaise with internal and external clients, and stakeholders including staff, clients, agencies, sub-consultants, laboratories, and contractors.
  • Manage budgets and project resources, monitoring progress against budget and forecasted schedule.
  • Ensure projects are completed in compliance with legal requirements and provincial health and safety standards.
  • Review the work of junior staff and complete quality control review for technical submissions.
  • Seal and sign drawings and reports, as required.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Registered membership in good standing with the Association of Professional Geoscientists of Ontario (PGO) as a Professional Geoscientist (P.Geo). and/or Professional Engineers of Ontario (PEO), as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.).
  • Minimum 3 years of experience providing all of the responsibilities noted above.
  • Extensive experience working around heavy machinery, and strong knowledge of the Ontario Health and Safety Act.
  • Demonstrated experience writing proposals and creating project budgets and the principles and practices of project management.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to answer questions from clients and stakeholders in an informed manner.
  • Excellent work ethic and ability to work on several projects or issues simultaneously.
  • Ability to read, understand and interpret policy and legislation.
  • This position requires travel to and from job sites on a regular basis and the successful candidate will need to have a valid driver’s license and flexibility for travel within Ontario.
