Ian Martin Workforce has partnered with a Miscellaneous Metal company that is expanding and growing their business. They custom manufacture high-quality steel products used in the new construction projects as well as renovations of existing facilities. They are looking for an Estimator that can join their team to create take offs and quotes of technical drawings.
You will be doing …
- Interpreting architectural and structural construction drawings, written specifications, and contract documents.
- Perform quantity take-off from construction drawings
- Analyze documents specifications, proposals, addendums in preparation for pricing.
- Perform any estimate related oral and/or written communications with customers
- Coordinating efforts with suppliers and sub trades to compile full competitive estimates within strict deadlines responsible for the overall financial performance of projects awarded.
- Review project site prior to price preparation if necessary.
- Accountable for accuracy and completeness of tender submissions.
- Assist with RFP’s and General Contract tender submissions.
- Assist with pre-qualification submissions, RFQ’s and RFI’s as required.
- Create architectural shop drawings for internal products, interpret field dimensions, create fabrication drawings and coordinate with production crews.
- Drive positive relationships and serve as key contact with Customers, Consultants, and general contractors.
- Maintain Estimating data systems to ensure they are kept up to date.
- Interpreting and apply the necessary standards associated with the Ontario Building Code.
- Seeking information to be able to "fill in the blanks" when information is incomplete or non-existent.
Why this is the right job for you…
- 1 to 3 years of relevant work experience; previous experience in Construction preferred
- Previous experience with Take Offs and Quote preparation required
- Experience working in AutoCAD, Revit, Pro Core required
- Preferred experience in the Steel, Sheet Metal, and/or Architectural Specialties industries.
- Self-motivated with excellent organizational skills.
- Ability to work accurately, effectively under pressure.
- Adaptable to flexible work schedule when required to meet deadlines.
- Ability to work with others as a team.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel as required, vehicle is required (mileage compensated)
