On behalf of one of North America’s largest natural gas and crude oil pipelines, along with nuclear power facilities distributors, we are looking for a Safety Advisor (Intermediate) in Saint Joseph, MO 64507.

Responsibilities;

  • Understand safety legislation, policy, procedure, and practices;
  • Apply corporate safety practices, policies, and procedures;
  • Conduct inspections, investigations, and audits;
  • Identify and react appropriately to Immediately Dangerous to Life and Health (IDLH) situations (imminent danger);
  • Identify and evaluate hazards;
  • Design and implement safety programs and services to support client and company business plans;
  • Provide safety risk identification and mitigation inputs regarding operational activities and projects;
  • Lead incident investigations; determine root causes and provide input to recommendations to reduce or eliminate the incident from reoccurring;
  • Interpret and communicate applicable provincial, state, and federal safety laws and rulings that may impact TransCanada;
  • Provide technical safety guidance to business partners;
  • Identify safety trends and determine corrective actions;
  • The individual will routinely travel to support employees and work activities in the designated Operational Areas of the pipeline system (ND, SD, NE, KS, MO, IL).
  • This role will be based out of the Saint Joseph MO Location
  • 8 hour days with some OT which could be travel to different sites
  • HSE certification would be an asset but not required.
  • Drug testing and Driver training will be required.
  • The candidate would be supporting the safety team - to help cover off liquids field ops requirements
  • Reviewing pipeline system that travels north to the Canadian border
  • North / South leg around steel city nb, to potoka Illinois
  • The candidate would offer support to the support the areas

Description:

  • Support ops personnel, coordinating with the safety managers
  • Offer additional support to the liquids field safety team
  • Collaborating within key areas, schedulers, managers to cover the work activities
  • Travel is involved at about 40 to 50%
  • Driving along the east-west leg - drive to the site
  • Some overnight stays may be required
  • Reporting to the Manager of Operational Safety, the position will provide active leadership to ensure corporate policies and regional practices and procedures are followed with the additional focus of leveraging best practices across the region.
  • The incumbent will act as a technical expert resource for safety risk identification and mitigation during routine pipeline facilities and operations, projects, and construction activities. This role will monitor employee safety programs based on analysis of audit, inspection, and statistical findings.
  • The incumbent will ensure the region complies with federal, state, and local regulations including Health & Safety criteria by maintaining high standards of documentation, record keeping, and timely reporting.
  • The successful individual will possess demonstrated leadership with a proven track record of influencing and motivating core staff, line management, and contractors that result in positive outcomes.
