Our client, one of the largest electrical energy suppliers in Canada, has an immediate need for an End to End Functional & Regression Tester. This is a contract position for one (1) year located in Vancouver, British Columbia

Description

This Tester will be performing manual testing and executing (not developing) automated test scripts for end-to-end system integration testing in an Agile environment.

Accountabilities

  • Create test plan that has all necessary details related to the test approach and coverage and serves as communication between testers and stakeholders and record of what is tested in project.
  • Develop test cases based on business workflow/requirements/specification and release notes. Ensure test cases will cover all major business scenarios/combination including positive and negative conditions.
  • Execute test cases and verify them with requirements and specifications. Communicate with stakeholders in terms of their impact and risk, clearly and accurately report test result to project team
  • Identify, analyze, and document testing defects with all necessary information including steps to reproduce and impact. Support defect investigation and participate in troubleshooting with developer and business analysts.
  • Improve test quality, accuracy, and efficiency by choosing test cases that are time-consuming, repetitive, data-intensive and high probability of human error for automation
  • Functional and regression testing work experience preferably in testing complex end to end systems related to smart metering projects or energy and utilities projects.

Required

  • Must be currently located in Lower Mainland
  • Must have 6+ years experience of functional and regression testing
  • Must have manual testing experience
  • Must have experience running SQL experience
  • Experience with system integration testing is an asset
  • Experience executing automated test cases in tools like Selenium or Jenkins is an asset
  • Experience doing testing for utility applications or smart meters is an asset
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or related discipline. For Engineering, Software Engineering option preferred.
  • Excellent knowledge of software testing life cycle and experience in Functional, Integration, System and UAT testing
  • Experience and technical knowledge in smart meter
  • Familiar with test management and defect tracking tools - HP ALM/HPQC, JIRA
  • Excellent database skills in Oracle, SQL Server and MS Access
  • Excellent programming language skills in HTML, XML, SQL scripting
  • Intermediate written and oral communication skills to adequately articulate and discuss technical issues
  • Excellent skills in MS Word/Excel for report writing and data analysis
  • Self-motivated, able to multitask and work in fast paced environment, quick learner
  • ISTQB Certified Tester preferred
  • Must have excellent written and oral communication skills

Additional Information

  • The resource can work from home to start but may be required to attend Metrotown office for initial training and will be required to work onsite once covid worksite restrictions are lifted
