Our client, the third largest producer of Canadian oil and natural gas and the second largest refiner and upgrader with extensive midstream and downstream infrastructure, has an immediate need for a Planner/Scheduler to support the Downstream small project team by preparing and maintaining multiple project schedules . This is a contract position for one (1) year located in Lloydminster, Alberta

Description

The Planner/Scheduler reports to the Lloyd Technical Services, Small Project Manager, Downstream Manufacturing. The incumbent is assigned to support the Downstream Lloyd Complex small project team by preparing and maintaining multiple project schedules from feasibility studies to the planning and implementation phases to ensure that projects present a realistic schedule and reliable execution plans and ensuring key stakeholders are informed and aligned to understand and be able to communicate the full project scope of work

The Planner/Scheduler will work proactively to ensure clear communication between areas to develop visibility that affords the ability to distribute work resource requirements from other departments to improve work execution and eliminate potential delays. Proactively identify gaps and peaks in work schedules and crew assignments throughout the execution of work to achieve schedule compliance

Accountabilities

  1. Develop level I, II, III & IV integrated project schedules under the direction of the Project Manager
  2. Build & maintain the master schedule for the entire assigned small project program
  3. Integrate schedules of EPC firms and construction and establish logical work sequences to fit priorities identified by Project Execution strategy
  4. Organize and facilitate integrated project planning sessions
  5. Co-ordinate with estimating and project cost specialists for cost & schedule alignment
  6. Consolidate the progress and performance reporting for the project from EPC and construction; support construction management team (CMT) for monitoring construction progress
  7. Core Planner / Scheduler activities as required including but not limited to: Produce reports and analysis using Primavera and other system and coordinate the schedule interface between all groups as well as identifying problems and making recommendations to project managers
  • Report baseline schedules against plan (dashboard) provide management reports as requested by project manager
  • Interface with supply chain management for schedule activity inclusion progress updates.
  • Participate in developing planning/scheduling related procedures template
  • Review schedule data, identify acquire information needed to complete work logics to interface between all stakeholders
  • Ensure all schedule changes are documented through change management system as per project requirement
  • Create present schedule basis for assigned integrated schedules
  • Perform manpower resource loading for assigned schedules if required
  • Participate in yearly work planning meetings with area portfolio managers
  • Perform critical path analysis identify and report activities which have critical or potential impact on schedule

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, technical, or equivalent related experience
  • Minimum of 5 years of Planning & Scheduling experience in the engineering, construction, project management of Oil & Gas related projects
  • Superior working knowledge of Primavera
  • Thorough knowledge of Engineering, Supply Chain, Fabrication, Construction processes as part of project execution
  • Excellent planning, time management, problem-solving analytical skills
  • Prior involvement in project completion and turnover, understanding of applicable requirements for successful turn over to operations
  • Proven ability to collaborate with people from various disciplines to achieve goals
  • Project Scheduler role in an Oil & Gas, refining, petrochemical or upgrading industry project environment, at offices at construction sites
  • Development -implementation of supply chain, engineering -construction for Oil & Gas, refining, petrochemical or upgrading industry projects +5 years
  • Proven experience in the execution of brownfield projects in the Oil & Gas, refining, petrochemical or upgrading industry
  • Experience on most common scheduling software superior experience with Primavera
  • Excellent problem solving facilitation skills with ability to plan, prioritize deliver quality results
  • Team player with strong leadership collaboration skills the ability to effectively guide a project team
  • Intermediate computer skills in MS Office Products (Adobe, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Strong results driven orientation ability to improve processes for higher business performance
  • Strong multi-tasking skills with the ability to prioritize and organize multiple concurrent assignments.
  • Exceptional skills in effectively guiding multiple teams, with competing priorities
  • Excellent business writing and oral communication skills coupled with the ability to communicate across business functions in an effective and professional manner
  • Extremely passionate and motivated by project planning & schedule management; proven ability to lead integrated planning sessions

  • Post-Secondary qualification in quality management or equivalent
  • Professional Engineer or equivalent technologist designation (P. Eng., P.L (Eng.)

  • Project Management Institute - Scheduling Professional
  • Project Management Institute - Scheduling Professional designation (PMI-SP)
  • Canadian Institute of Quantity Surveyors (CIQS) PQS designation
  • Thorough understanding of Oil & Gas Refining and related operations would be an advantage Experience developing and facilitating integrated planning sessions with various disciplines, exterior contractors and internal contributors
  • Ability to translate Project strategy into a Project Controls functional plan
  • Ability to think tactically and strategically with an ability to lead and manage change
