Our client, a Canadian global leader in exploration, mine engineering, and environmental protection has an immediate need for a General Superintendent to lead and direct superintendents within the construction management team on multi-discipline projects within the mining industry This is a contract position for six (6) months located in Port Hope, Ontario.

 Key Responsibilities

  •  Primary responsibility is to support the Construction Manager by leading and directing discipline superintendents within the contruction management team
  • May fill-in for the Construction Manager for short durations while the Construction Manager is away assuming overall responsibility and accountability for construction work executed on the site
  • May act in a discipline superintendent capacity by directly overseeing the contractors team in execution of the work
  • Responsible and accountable to ensure that all individuals on the construction site are working in a safe manner abiding by all safety program requirements
  • Lead others to and/or personally develop detailed work plans according to workface planning practices
  • Depending on the scope of work, may perform supervision of direct field labour in the safe completion of scope to a high quality standard
  • Depending on the scope of work, may oversee the contractors activities confirming the work is completed safely and according to all contract requirements
  • Support the discipline superintendents in the inspection of completed work to confirm it is completed to appropriate standards, identifying deficiencies and managing the completion of deficiencies
  • Monitor the schedule and productivity of work and work constructively with the contractor team to drive improvements
  • Work collaboratively with the contractor and operations personnel to resolve issues and barriers
  • Work collaboratively with the contractor on all aspects of planning to enable efficient work to progress in the field
  • Responsible to coordinate field activities between contractors and the Cameco operations team as required

 Qualifications

  • Previous experience as a field superintendent is required
  • Previous experience as a construction manager is considered an asset
  • Previous experience in a brown field construction environment is required
  • Previous experience at a nuclear facility preferred
  • Supervisor training/certification
  • Proficient computer skills required
  • Must be able to commit to a Rotation Schedule 160 hours per month Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week (preferred) OR 2 weeks in/ 2 weeks out, 11 hours per day
