Injection Moulding Process Engineer

  • Located in Mississauga, ON
  • $32.00- $40.00/ hour depending on experience
  • 3 month contract that can lead into Full-time permanant
  • Day Shift: 7:00am- 3:30pm

Ian Martin Workforce is working with the leading developer of Clean Tech Solutions for Hydrogen Generation, Energy Storage, and Fuel Cell Power Modules for mobility and stationary applications.

As their new Process Engineer, you will develop and maintain process documentation ensuring that a controlled stable process is being run within the moulding department.   • Minimum 5 yrs of Injection Moulding Experience preferably with Rubbers (LSR or HCR)
  • Experience bonding / gluing / sealing (gasketing) parts
  • Develop SOPs for routings, tooling, assembly drawings, assembly methods and job instruction sheets.)
  • Responsible for the daily activities of the technical aspects of the molding processes to ensure that a controlled stable process is being run and that overall safety practices are being followed.
  • Ensure that proper start-up, shut-down, and troubleshooting procedures are being followed
  • Identify, develop and implement best practices and improvements to the manufacturing processes to improve production rates, reduce cost, and decrease product variability.
  • Provides technical support and engineering analysis of quality rejections for existing product.
  • Provides technical support for repair, replacement, and upgrade of tools and equipment.
  • Provides technical support for in the development of new products.
  • Assists in the development of injection mold set-up/processing sheets, procedures and instructions for Prototype and Production sampling.
  • Supports new product launches utilizing APQP process, including new capital requests.
  • Support the product development process as an advisor to the design process, driving technical solutions to support manufacturing World-Class injection mold designs.

  • Improve standards for part design. Responsibilities include from design concept, Mold Flow, and processing through to the manufacturing process. Extensive familiarity with plastic processing. Understanding of injection mold processing using a wide variety plastics and rubber (LSR & HCR).
  • Ability to evaluate molding and tooling problems for best solutions. Ability to manage complex assignment priorities. Assure product and process quality by setting process variables; establishing standards; and confirming all sampling processes.
  • Develop and maintain process documentation Responsible for the daily activities of the technical aspects of the molding processes to ensure that a controlled stable process is being run and that overall safety practices are being followed.
  • Ensure that proper start-up, shut-down, and troubleshooting procedures are being followed
  • Applying troubleshooting techniques to determine root cause of process concerns
  • Identify quality issues, formulate reaction plans and implement corrective action
  • Set-up, program, operate, optimize and maintain machines for injection and compression moulding of plastic /elastomeric (LSR) parts, assembly equipment, roll to roll (R2R), laminating, mixing and blending equipment
  • Product dimensional review and analysis
  • Works with manufacturing equipment suppliers to resolve quality issues;
  • Source, install, and commission the equipment for our new manufacturing lines.
  • Identify suppliers for equipment and tooling and lead their procurement
  • Implement productivity enhancements including process re-engineering, new materials, tooling, machines and robot
  • Experience with Process yield improvement / capacity improvement through LEAN.
  • Prepare and present reports regarding process reviews, equipment procurement and evaluation
