Our electric utility client in Toronto, ON is looking to hire a Payroll Analyst for a 8 months contract role with possibility of extension.
· Payroll Processing:
Processes and assists in coordinating timely and accurate payroll for unionized and non-unionized employees on a bi-weekly basis including retroactive calculations on job changes and transfers; proper application of collective agreement clauses, company policies and legislated requirements; timely remittances to Government Agencies; preparation and analysis of accurate T4 and T4A‘s on an annual basis. Interprets legislation (Employment Insurance Act, Income Tax Act, Employment Standards Act and Wages Act) as required. Works closely with the Employee & Labour Relations department to understand and implement confidential complex termination arrangements for senior and non-union staff.
· Payroll system support:
Designs processes and TH system procedures for new and complex situations arising from organizational changes. Applies judgment to these situations in determining the critical processes and data elements, while identifying and mitigating risk factors.
· Pension Processing:
Administers the OMERS pension plan including enrolment of new hires; performs complex calculations for terminations, retirements, broken service, buy backs and waivers; bi-weekly and year-end reconciliations and analysis.
- Education: Must have Bachelor’s degree,
- Nice to have : Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) or Certified Payroll Manager (CPM) designation

- Client is still working remotely w/ occasional in office work, may be full time in office next year
- Candidate will need to come in first few days for onboarding
