Electric Asset Data GIS Analyst

Our multinational electricity and gas utility company is currently hiring an Electric Asset Data GIS Analyst, The project is based out in Syracuse, NY for a contract duration of 12 months.

 

Local candidates strongly preferred. The position is currently 100% remote but there's a possibility for in-office meetings in the future.

Non-local candidates would only be considered for the right candidate - must have GE Smallworld experience and electric distribution and design experience.

Key Tasks:


  • The contractor will compare on a Feeder by Feeder basis (i) the vendor photo and the assets identified within the photo to (ii) the assets identified with the company Smallworld GIS system and (iii) the assets located on the company regional control center energy management system (EMS). The contractor will identify any discrepancies between these three components and either (a) update the company Smallworld GIS system where appropriate or (b) recommend changes to the company Smallworld GIS and Index Maps for correction by other company departments. All updates recommended changes or questions to external groups shall be entered by the Contractor within the NG IMAP ArcGIS Online environment. The contractor will confirm the photo quality and verify that the photo assigned to a company GIS Asset ID is consistent with the asset information within the company Smallworld GIS. Discrepancies will require that the Outside Vendor for Photo Acquisition be notified to enable them to correct the photos.
  • The contractor will execute a series of checks which validate the connectivity of the feeder. A contractor will update the company's Smallworld GIS system as appropriate to correct any validation errors.
  • QAQC Contractor resource will perform a quality control/quality assurance step on the feeder, ensuring that the proposed modifications are accurate based on the QAQC Status assigned to the Virtual Walk Down person. Corrections to the feeder will be sent back to the person assigned the Virtual Walk Down / Validation steps for corrections. The contractor will prepare and send to the company Maps & Records Sharepoint site (i) all Index Map changes and (ii) complex changes.
  • QAQC Contractor resource will close out a feeder by posting the Smallworld GIS modifications within the company Smallworld GIS system when a feeder has been determined to be clean of any issues/discrepancies. The QAQC Contractor will notify the company DP&I department that a feeder is closed, enabling the DP&I department to continuously monitor that feeder for any modifications in the future.
  • Other Asset Data and Analytics team members, Operations Support personnel
  • Analyze field photos and model distribution field asset conditions into the company Information System (Smallworld Electric)

 

Education:

 

  • AAS degree in Electrical Technology or Electrical Power Technology
  • Other AAS degree with equivalent experience in the electrical distribution field

 

Required Experience:

 

  • Hands-on experience working with Electric utility GIS models and systems - Smallworld or ESRI
  • Proven experience working with diverse teams to gather information in support of job duties

 

Preferred Experience:

 

  • Experience working with utility asset information - particularly electric distribution
  • Experience working with other systems including work and document management
  • Understanding of data management and quality principles

  • Demonstrated analytical skills, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Proficient with computer applications.
