Our client, one of the largest electrical energy suppliers in Canada, has an immediate need for an Internal Communications and Training Writing Specialist. This is a contract position for two (2) months and candidates may work remotely for the duration of this contract.

Description

The Internal Communications and Training Writing Specialist research, designs, writes, edits, and maintains corporate, marketing, web/social, or technical materials enabling meaningful communication with company’s intended audience.

The Internal Communications and Training Writing Specialist is most likely a specialist in a particular style of writing that can include corporate, marketing, web, and/or script writing or may be a technical writer with the ability to translate complex information in a specific subject area, such as safety or engineering, into a clear and concise message.

Role Accountabilities:

  • Collect and research relevant information by collaborating with subject matter experts to generate source content that represents company’s intended message.
  • Translate and refine source content into materials that are user-friendly, concise, accurate, and clear following corporate writing guidelines.
  • Design and create media that is simple and engaging by sourcing graphics that follow basic design principles and companies internal brand guidelines in the use of colors, logo, typography, and illustration.
  • Deliver corporate message by integrating excellent writing and a visually appealing format into communication materials that meet the audiences’ needs.
  • Ensure easy retrieval, safeguarding, and proper version control of documents by organizing communication materials using document management systems and following companies document management standards.
  • Coordinate with other team members in completing the development and layout of articles, technical documents, marketing materials, web and/or social content to produce communication that optimizes audience engagement and interaction.

Deliverables:

  • Pure focus on designing the content and writing.
  • Creating engaging interactions in the learnings 
  • Translating the policy requirements into understandable story-based content. 
  • Writing is key, more about practical, simpler awareness raising and training. 
  • Create annual training materials for code review, including developing scenarios and making content engaging.
  • Create topic discussion packages for managers (PowerPoint and speaking notes to address common ethic topics)

Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of writing experience or equivalent.
  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in Writing, Communication, Journalism or equivalent – portfolio required.
  • Advanced MS Office skills (Word and PowerPoint)
  • Advanced Adobe skills
  • Advanced English skills for professional environment, written and spoken.
  • Graphic design skills, an asset
  • Experience with creating training on ethics, corporate policies, and compliance an asset.
