Our client, one of the largest electrical energy suppliers in Canada, has an immediate need for an Electrical Field Maintenance Engineer. This is a contract position for two (2) years located in Campbell River, British Columbia.
Description
Provide electrical engineering support for maintenance of hydro equipment including generators, transformers, breakers, station service and other equipment in generating stations, at spillways and dams, on Vancouver Island. Act as technical lead when working with crews to resolve maintenance issues and troubleshoot equipment problems.
Accountabilities
- Provide technical review when revising Preventative Maintenance programs.
- Provide analysis of Equipment Health and Reliability Centered Maintenance in the generating station.
- Provide technical support in development of capital plans and plant improvement projects.
- Travel to support generation stations throughout Vancouver Island will be required.

- Ability to communicate effectively with various internal and external sources for the purposes of gathering and relaying information, resolving issues of concern, etc.
Requirements
- 8 + yrs experience utility design solutions a in an electric utility environment for the Senior Level Role
- 4 + yrs experience utility design solutions a in an electric utility environment for the Intermediate Role
- Registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) with Engineers & Geoscientists BC or eligible for registration with EGBC
- A degree in Electrical Engineering.
- Must have experience with root cause analysis & establishing maintenance programs
- Familiarity with hydro generation is an asset
- Ability to provide work leadership or technical direction to engineers and/or other technical support staff.
- Ability to develop innovative methods of analysis for complex issues.
- Ability to analyze, interpret and evaluate various complex technical studies and data.
- Well developed analytical and communication skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively with various internal and external sources for the purposes of gathering and relaying information, resolving issues of concern, etc.
- Proven ability to work well with crews and peers.
Additional Information
Travel to support generation stations throughout Vancouver Island will be required.
