An exciting opportunity to join a rapidly growing business with an amazing culture. We are looking for a Senior Data Analyst to join our Data Insights team, working closely with business stakeholders to deliver actionable insights that drive decision-making. This is a business intelligence-focused role where you will be the analytical partner to your business area, understanding their data needs, building reports and dashboards, and translating complex data into clear insights that create real business value.
The Role
In this role, you will be the bridge between data and business outcomes, bringing analytical expertise to support strategic and operational decision-making. You will work with Databricks for ETL orchestration and data warehousing, leveraging VS Code and Python notebooks to go from preliminary EDA to refined dashboards that communicate insights effectively. Your technical knowledge spanning data design patterns (medallion architecture), version control strategies (git) and visualisation techniques will be essential as you design and deliver analytical solutions. You will collaborate closely with business stakeholders to understand their challenges, identify opportunities, and deliver insights that drive action.
We are migrating our dashboards from Power BI to Python (streamlit), so experience with Power BI would be valuable as you help transition existing reports whilst building new analytical capabilities. You will have the opportunity to shape how we deliver insights, working with modern data tools and contributing to our evolving data platform. With strong support from the Data Science Manager and the organisation, you will be empowered to develop your technical skills whilst making a meaningful impact on business outcomes.
Our preference is for someone located in Melbourne, Sydney or Brisbane. You will have the option to work from home or work from the office.
About You
We are looking for someone who:
- Has 3+ years of experience in data analysis and business intelligence, with a proven track record of delivering insights that drive business decisions
- Is proficient in Python (pandas) for data modelling and willing to learn PySpark to scale-up when required
- Can apply software development principles (SOLID, DRY, KISS) to deliver maintainable, clean code
- Is familiar with enterprise DevOps practices (Git and CI/CD) and unit test frameworks
- Thrives in an agile scrum-based software development environment
- Can work across the entire lifecycle of dashboard development (collecting requirements, planning, gathering data, EDA, cleansing, modelling, visualisation, testing, deployment, educate/train end-user, and ongoing monitoring/maintenance)
- Understands data warehousing principles, medallion architecture, and delta lake, and can apply these concepts to build robust analytical solutions
- Can work effectively with business stakeholders, translating their needs into analytical requirements and delivering insights in clear, accessible formats
- Has experience building reports and dashboards, ideally with Power BI, and is comfortable migrating and modernising existing reporting solutions
- Has some knowledge of cloud distributed computing (AWS)
- Can balance technical depth with business acumen, understanding both the 'how' and the 'why' of data analysis
- Is a strong communicator who can explain complex analytical findings to both technical and non-technical audiences
- Enjoys working collaboratively with business teams, acting as a trusted analytical partner who understands their domain
- Is proactive and curious, able to identify opportunities for insights and drive analytical initiatives that add value
- Stays current with data analytics best practices and tools, and understands how to apply them in a practical business context
