The role
This newly created position will offer a motivated junior lawyer the opportunity to be a core member of Australia’s fastest growing professional services group. As a trusted legal advisor, you will help advise the Group on a range of legal, risk, compliance and governance matters.
Reporting into Senior Legal Counsel and working closely with other key senior stakeholders, you will gain exposure to business operations, risk, strategy and corporate governance issues. The ideal candidate will be able to work effectively from home or in our office as needed and be able to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities of the role include:
- assisting the General Counsel and Senior Legal Counsel provide advice to the business on a wide range of corporate, commercial, intellectual property, technology, financial and governance matters;
- helping review, draft and negotiate various agreements and other legal documents to ensure the group's legal rights are protected;
- assisting with the execution of the Group’s M&A activity, including acquisitions, divestments and mergers;
- assisting with the management of the Group’s governance and company secretarial requirements, including the Group’s employee incentive schemes;
- helping manage the Group’s compliance and risk management function, including assisting with the development and maintenance of policies and processes to ensure the Group complies with its legal requirements, and developing proactive solutions to mitigate legal risks and potential liabilities;
- helping manage the Group’s conflict of interests process and function; and
- assisting the General Counsel and Senior Legal Counsel with other legal and governance-related activities and projects.
About you
We’re looking for someone:
- with between 2-3 years' experience as a corporate, M&A or commercial lawyer in a reputable firm or a current legal counsel working in-house;
- who thrives in a growing and fast environment;
- with strong communication skills and excellent organisational abilities;
- who has great excellent attention to detail; and
- who can efficiently manage multiple priorities.
