The Opportunity:

The Data and Reporting Analyst will deliver professional data analytics and reporting services to our stakeholders, including contributing to the strategic growth of Hostplus through participation in key business transformation programs. The role involves interacting and influencing stakeholders within the organisation to fully understand their data, reporting, and analytics needs. This includes analysing the requirements, converting them into technical documents, reports, and dashboards, and presenting these findings to stakeholders. 

The Strategy, Data & Analytics team act as an internal centre of excellence for data & analytics and provide consultancy to other business units in Hostplus.  

As a key member of the team, the responsibilities for this role include: 

Data analytics and reporting: 

  • Engaging and collaborating with stakeholders to understand their data, reporting and analytics requirements; 
  • Translating business queries and requests into technical design and documentation; 
  • Developing and maintaining tailored data models, reports and dashboards to provide insights that are relevant, timely and accurate; 
  • Providing data & analytics support for internal projects as well as regulatory and compliance reporting; 
  • Providing analysis on the competitive and strategic environments in which Hostplus operates; 
  • Effectively communicate data insights to the business and work with key stakeholders to ensure that insights are being effectively utilised to drive business value; 
  • Working with our external data service provider to monitor and uplift data quality and coverage; and 
  • Supporting continuous monitoring and improvement of data quality in the organisation 

Strategic and business planning: 

  • Delivering qualitative and quantitative data-driven insights to support strategy development, business planning and implementation; 
  • Performing market research contributing to fund strategy initiatives and analysis; 
  • Supporting engagement with external advisory partners, or undertaking desktop research to supplement internal data & analysis; and 
  • Preparing and refining presentation materials for the annual strategic planning process 

About you:

We are seeking a candidate with tertiary qualifications and strong analytical capabilities, demonstrating exceptional critical thinking and problem-solving skills. This individual will have a proven track record of developing and delivering business intelligence reporting in a comparable role.  

This role requires developed influencing skills to effectively engage with stakeholders. The ideal candidate will be competent in working in a SQL-based environment and using data and analytics applications such as SQL Service Management Studio, Azure Data Studio, Power BI, Python and Microsoft Excel and be able to present information in a visual, clear and concise manner. Experience working with Adobe Analytics or Experience will be advantageous.
