How will you make an impact?

You’ll strengthen Hostplus’ risk and compliance environment by delivering independent, outcomes‑focused assurance over frameworks and controls, supporting sound governance, regulatory confidence and informed decision‑making across the fund.

The opportunity

As our Manager – Risk & Compliance Frameworks and Assurance (12‑month parental leave cover), you’ll step into a highly visible, hands‑on assurance role with exposure across the business and close interaction with senior stakeholders, Committees and the Board.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys getting into the detail—reviewing frameworks, testing controls, identifying themes and translating findings into clear, practical insights that help uplift risk maturity across the organisation. You’ll work across a broad range of risk and compliance activities, partnering closely with first line teams, Enterprise Risk and Internal Audit to provide independent challenge and assurance.

Covering a parental leave period, this is an opportunity to contribute immediately within an established framework, maintain momentum across key assurance activities, and build strong organisational context in a complex, regulated environment.

  • Work collaboratively with first line, Enterprise Risk and Internal Audit to support the development and delivery of the annual second‑line assurance plan, as approved by the Audit Committee.
  • Conduct independent assessments of the design and operating effectiveness of business controls in line with the Risk Management Framework.
  • Review and uplift risk and compliance frameworks, policies and supporting documentation to enhance risk management practices.
  • Provide clear, practical recommendations and guidance to support the business in strengthening processes and controls.
  • Support compliance with statutory and prudential obligations, including APRA reporting oversight and coordination.
  • Assist with analysis of emerging risk and compliance matters impacting the fund.
  • Prepare monitoring and assurance papers for senior leadership, Committees and the Board as required.

About you

  •  3–5 years’ experience in risk advisory, controls assurance, risk reviews and/or second‑line risk assurance roles.
  • Strong technical knowledge of the Australian financial services environment, ideally within superannuation, including relevant legislation such as the Corporations Act and SIS Act.
  • Experience reviewing or assuring risk management and compliance frameworks.
  • Well‑developed analytical capability, including investigation techniques, root cause analysis and controls testing.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to produce clear, practical and credible reports.
  • Proven ability to build effective working relationships with senior stakeholders across the business.
  • Tertiary qualifications in commerce, law or a related discipline (or equivalent experience).
