In this role, you’ll help ensure Hostplus’ purpose and priorities are communicated clearly and consistently to stakeholders, from members to the media, supporting the protection and enhancement of the fund’s reputation.
You’ll help turn complex ideas into accessible narratives, contribute to thoughtful media engagement, and assist in maintaining a credible, trusted voice with stakeholders and the broader community.
The opportunity
As our Public & Corporate Affairs Specialist, you’ll work closely with the Executive Manager, Public & Corporate Affairs, supporting the development and delivery of well‑considered, purposeful communications.
This role suits someone who enjoys working across a range of corporate and public affairs matters, values collaboration and sound judgement, and takes pride in producing high‑quality work that supports organisational objectives.
We are open to applications across both Melbourne and Adeliade.
Some Key Responsibilities:
- Support media and external communications activities that align with Hostplus’ strategy and reputation.
- Monitor and analyse media coverage, identifying emerging issues and providing clear, timely insights.
- Draft and coordinate speeches, media materials, briefing notes and internal communications across a range of audiences.
- Translate policy, operational and financial information into clear, accessible content.
- Contribute to corporate communication planning to support consistent, integrated messaging.
- Assist with issues management and crisis preparedness, including drafting background materials and holding statements.
- Support the delivery of key stakeholder events, including the Annual Member Meeting.
About you
- 3–5 years’ experience in public affairs, communications, media or stakeholder engagement, ideally within financial services, superannuation or a regulated sector.
- Strong knowledge of Australia’s media and political landscape, with experience supporting media relations activities.
- Demonstrated ability to produce high‑quality written content tailored to executive, public and internal audiences.
- Experience monitoring media coverage and advising on sentiment and reputational impact.
- The ability to collaborate effectively with senior stakeholders and cross‑functional teams.
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in communications, PR, journalism, political science, public policy or a related discipline.
