As the Head of Investment Risk, you will ensure our investment strategies align with our commitment to our members by driving the identification, management, and reporting of risks. Your independent review and guidance will safeguard the financial futures of our members.

The opportunity:

This is a unique opportunity to lead the investment risk management function at Hostplus. In this role, you will be responsible for embedding the Hostplus Risk Management Framework within our Investments and Investment Operations functions. You will:

  • Provide independent review and challenge the Investment Governance Framework
  • Guide the identification, management, and reporting of emerging risks
  • Support the preparation of regulatory responses for the Investments and Investment Operations function
  • Oversee the second line assurance program over key controls
  • Participate in decision-making to support risk-based considerations that align with our business plan
  • Challenge activities and decisions affecting the Hostplus risk profile
  • Lead the development of the risk team’s Vision and engagement plan
  • Collaborate on improvements to the Risk Management Framework
  • Execute and oversee the Risk business plan
  • Support strategic and business planning activities

About you:

You are a seasoned professional with significant experience in the financial services industry, particularly in investment risk management, internal audit, or compliance roles. You bring at least five to seven years of experience in these areas, along with five years in a strategic leadership role. Your expertise includes:

  • Designing and developing Risk Management frameworks, strategies, and processes related to investment risk
  • A deep understanding of investment risk methodology, approaches, techniques, and management practice
  • Familiarity with regulatory compliance and industry best practices, including SPS 530/SPG 530 & CPS 220
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills to independently challenge the First Line
