The Superannuation Advice Manager (SAM) position reports to, supports and assists the Head of Advice (HOA) in ensuring the efficient, effective and compliant delivery of Hostplus’ financial planning services for fund members nationally. 

The SAM is additionally responsible for leading, managing, coaching and mentoring a team of superannuation advisors, ensuring the Fund’s high quality advice standards and productivity requirements and results are met. The SAM is also involved in developing and managing key internal and external relationships, including with AFSL service providers, audit and compliance partners and other relevant business partners as required. 


The opportunity

  • Lead, manage, coach and mentor the superannuation advice team to provide high quality personal advice and services as per the requirements of the fund and its strategy. 
  • Manage and take responsibility for operational, reporting and administrative functions of the superannuation advice team, including the overall advice workflow and productivity within the team to ensure an effective process is in place to maximise efficiency, productivity and overall member experience and outcomes. 
  • Maintain a sound understanding of operational compliance across all aspects of the superannuation advice team’s business operating model in the delivery of personal advice service to members 
  • Complete regular quality monitoring of elements relating to advice. Including but not limited to advice meetings, advice files, member feedback and provide constructive feedback to individuals and the team. 
  • Provide regular and timely reporting of financial planning activities, including advice quality, compliance, productivity, member satisfaction and other reporting of attainment of specific key result areas as requested. 
  • Investigate and resolve, as and if applicable, advice complaints in accordance with the Hostplus’ and AFSL licensee’s policies, processes and protocols. 
  • Complete regular formal performance appraisals of superannuation advisors according to Hostplus’ guidelines. 
  • Adhere to all relevant fund and external AFS Licensee’s internal policies and procedures, all relevant government legislation, and regulations as per the requirements of the position. 
  • Maintain an appropriate level of technical knowledge and professional development commensurate with that of a practicing financial planner and provide advice services to members or others as appropriate. 
  • Host and/or present at Hostplus advice related events such as webinars, seminars, and symposiums. 
  • Represent Hostplus as requested by the Head of Advice or Chief Member Officer. 
  • Develop relationships and regularly engage with internal (State Managers, Advice Support Team and Financial Planning Team) and external AFS Licensees, stakeholders and business partners to ensure the Fund’s advice services and objectives are delivered and fulfilled. 
  • Participate as required in Hostplus marketing campaigns, promotions and other strategic activities involving financial planning and advice services and teams. 
  • Positively demonstrate and champion Hostplus’ values. 
  • Contribute to the overall achievement of the Advice team’s, Member Experience Division’s and Hostplus’ key objectives and outcomes. 
  • Provide subject matter expertise assistance and support to other areas of the business as required. 

 

About you

  • Proven success in managing and leading a financial planning team to achieve key performance areas
  • Met the FASEA education requirements, including successful completion of the FASEA exam
  • Registered and recognised as an existing adviser on the ASIC Financial Advice Register (FAR) between 1 January 2016 and 31 December 2018
  • Registered tax (financial) adviser with the Tax Practitioners Board (TPB), or completion of relevant tax and commercial law units
