Reporting to the Head of Investments - Legal, you will be responsible for providing legal advice and support to Hostplus’ investment strategy and investment operations teams.
To note: This is a 12month contract role.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with managing of the legal due diligence process relating to assets in which Hostplus invests, including equities, private equity, credit, alternatives, property and infrastructure (both domestic and offshore)
- Communicate with and manage external legal advisers to ensure commercial, efficient and cost-effective legal advice.
- Assist with managing and negotiating complex investment related documentation across all asset classes.
- Provide timely, accurate and commercial legal advice on investment related and commercial activities.
- Assist with managing the delivery of investment-related projects arising from regulatory developments, policy changes and the businesses’ initiatives.
- Contribute to the continuous development and implementation of legal initiatives relating to due diligence and control processes, precedents and checklists.
About you
- You will require a current practicing certificate and demonstrated experience (at least 4 years PQE), working as a financial services and funds lawyer and/or corporate transactional lawyer, and experience working on large-scale corporate transactions.
- The ability to take a frontline role in complex, often time pressured investment transactions
- Ability to work well with limited supervision
- Excellent drafting and negotiation skills
- Commercial acumen, enthusiasm and a collaborative and innovative approach to legal matters
- Experience at building and managing relationships
