As an Investment Valuations Specialist, you'll play a crucial role in safeguarding the accuracy and reliability of asset valuations within Hostplus. Your expertise will directly contribute to the confidence our members have in their retirement investments, ensuring they receive the returns they deserve. 

The opportunity

Join us in the heart of investment operations, where you'll collaborate with top-tier teams to administer and analyze our investment portfolio. As part of our Investment Operations and Implementation department, you'll have the chance to implement and refine valuation governance frameworks, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards. This role offers a unique opportunity to make a tangible impact on the financial well-being of our members. 

About you

We're seeking a detail-oriented individual with a deep understanding of valuation principles and governance frameworks. You possess the skills and knowledge to oversee investment valuations, ensuring accuracy and consistency across all asset classes. With a proactive approach to risk management and a commitment to regulatory compliance, you'll thrive in a dynamic environment where precision is paramount. 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Enhancing and implementing the Valuation Governance Framework in accordance with regulatory standards 
  • Overseeing investment management engagements to ensure valuations align with Hostplus' Valuation Policy 
  • Contributing to the development and implementation of valuation control processes for unlisted assets 
  • Supporting valuation governance of externally managed unlisted assets 
  • Managing valuation risk by ensuring accurate reflection in unit price 
  • Conducting back-testing of unlisted asset valuations to ensure consistency with audited accounts 
  • Monitoring valuation movements and accommodating material changes within unit prices 
  • Maintaining and updating the Valuation Policy as required  
  • Presenting to external parties on valuation policies and practices, particularly regarding unlisted assets.
