This person needs to have expertise in writing RFP responses, preferably in the local government space, RFP organization, and process flow in a deadline driven environment. This person should have experience in translating technical information into language that is easy for the reader/reviewer to understand.

Strong writing skills and organization is the standout in this request. We do not need this candidate to be technical, this person can leverage the Engineers for that if needed. However, the candidate should have experience interviewing and coordinating subject matter experts. Ability to take a kernel of information and sculpt it to fit the requirements of a response.

Soft Skills: Able and comfortable to work remotely, and able to be willing to call someone or video via team to obtain information needed for RFP. Building relationships with experts outside of their workstream is vital. Unflappability under pressure, the ideal candidate has the “customer service voice” to appear to be a joy to work with.


Duration: 6 months, likely extend if the influx of work is there (very likely)


We are really looking for someone who has written RFPs recently. As well as the following:

At least 5 years proposal writing and proposal management experience, including:

  • Demonstrated experience with managing, writing, and submitting RFPs including:
  • Coordinating proposal development
  • Translating solutions, including technical information, into compelling and compliant business proposals
  • Applying layout and other desktop publishing skills
  • Editing content for clarification and consistency
  • Developing and adhering to proposal schedule deadlines
  • Understanding proposal databases
  • Demonstrated ability to function under tight deadlines and work effectively as part of a documentation team
  • Identifying opportunities, and then successfully managing/leading
  • RFP’s and bids to enable growth through
  • Leading the identification, analysis, recommendation and prioritization of new opportunities
  • Identifying process improvements for operational performance

Other Key Skills:

  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Expert MS Word/SharePoint/ MS Teams/Adobe Suite
  • Experience working in a large corporate environment, including engaging with multiple teams including sales, legal, finance, engineering questions
  • Moderate skill level in creating/editing graphical elements
  • Government experience is preferred – Sourcewell/NASPO/E-Rate/ State RFPs/RFIs/RFQs
