The Device Engineer will have a broad understanding of wireless communication principles and theories that apply to the design, operation and testing of wireless devices. The Engineer will participate in certification testing and test case development for a variety of mobile device products. Test case development encompasses understanding requirements, interpreting standards, executing test cases and producing summary documentation. The scope of certification testing includes all aspects of current and future device functionality, e.g. parametric, field, application, data, user interface.


Job Duties and Responsibilities:

Section 2:

  • Execute Hardware/Software Testing per wireless standards and company device requirements
  • Complete Compliance Testing on live networks and in a laboratory environment
  • Conducting tests and analyzing data in a moving test vehicle
  • Demonstrate broad knowledge of CDMA, LTE and VoLTE standards, layer 3 messaging and call flow processes
  • Execute Call Performance testing using Mobile Diagnostic Monitors (e.g. Spirent UDM and Qualcomm QXDM) to verify device compliance and performance.
  • Proactively find opportunities for automating test procedures to drive efficiency
  • Short and long term analysis of test data to develop integrated product and process improvements
  • Develop compilation of various written and verbal reports of testing results
  • Executing device compliance testing including mobile operating systems, applications and wireless protocols (LTE, Session Initiated Protocol, VoIP, TCP/IP, IoT, VoWiFi etc)
  • Initiate test case development for evolving wireless devices and services
  • Participate in multiple projects simultaneously
  • Responsible for providing issue status communications within teams, cross functionally, and with vendors
  • Device Vendor management


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • B.S. in Engineering or equivalent work or military experience.
  • 3-5 years professional experience in cellular or wireless telecommunication
  • Advanced Risk Management/ Contingency Planning skills required
  • Advanced issue resolution skills required
  • Strong project planning skills
  • Strong understanding of team dynamics; experience in forming and leading multiple teams
  • Experience in the creation of external release quality documentation; ability to develop 2-3 documents concurrent with other job responsibilities
  • Experience working with multiple simultaneous subjects of a complex nature required
  • Status Reporting experience required
  • Strong written and verbal skills
  • Demonstrates a broad knowledge of and applies principles, practices and procedures of wireless communications industry
