The opportunity

We are looking for a Safety, Quality & Environment (SQE) Advisor to join our team working on a large residential project. This role is suitable for someone already in the construction industry that is looking to move into a safety role. Training provided. 

The SQE Advisor is responsible for assisting the Project Manager and site team to ensure the site operates safety through the successful coordination of safety, quality and environment activities.  

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Identify, challenge and report unsafe behaviour on site 
  • Communicate SQE issues to all onsite 
  • Consult and resolve SQE issues 
  • Check and review SQE documentation submitted by subcontractors 
  • Carry out Project SQE risk assessments and ensure hazards are identified and documented 
  • Carry out workplace hazard identification, risk assessments and review SWMS 
  • Obtain copies of relevant records from subcontractors (Plant maintenance, training, site meeting minutes etc) 
  • Assist the site team to conduct site inductions (this includes visitor inductions)

Required skills and experience

  • Previous experience working on a construction site or related high-risk industry
  • Knowledge of WHS legislation, regulations, standards and codes of practice
  • Knowledge of ISO and OFSC management systems, Audit criteria and Building Codes
  • Demonstrated experience supporting others in adapting to change
  • Knowledge of construction processes and requirements
