The opportunity

We are looking for an Assistant Accountant to join our finance team in Canberra. The Assistant Accountant is responsible for the accounting operations of a business unit, including month & year end processing, associated journals and account reconciliations.

Reporting to the Senior Financial Accountant, your key activities will include:

  • Maintaining accurate and timely reconciliation of accounts.
  • Providing financial information and analysis per reporting deadlines.
  • Preparation of monthly and yearly financial statements.
  • Preparation of compliance activities including BAS, FBT, superannuation, work cover and payroll tax returns and supporting work papers.
  • Assist in financial planning and forecasting for the business unit.

You will have:

  • An accounting degree
  • 2 - 3 years’ work experience in an accounting role
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to effectively manage priorities
  • Customer focus and responsiveness
  • Currently studying or intention to start CPA
