We’re the Health Insurance Fund of Australia, but our friends call us HIF and we have an exciting opportunity for an IT Manager, to join our team.

About the role

The IT Manager is responsible for hands-on delivery, support, and continuous improvement of HIF’s modern workplace and hybrid technology environment. The role combines senior technical capability with operational delivery, supporting both project and BAU activities across Microsoft 365, Windows infrastructure, identity, network services and associated technology platforms.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Administer and support Microsoft 365, Entra ID, Active Directory, Windows Server and associated hybrid identity services.
  • Manage endpoint configuration, device compliance, application deployment and patching using Microsoft Intune and Endpoint Configuration Manager.
  • Configure and troubleshoot Conditional Access, MFA and other identity and device access requirements.
  • Contribute to the uplift and optimisation of endpoint, patching and device management capabilities, and support HIF’s APRA CPS 234, CPS 230, Essential Eight and ISO 27001-aligned security requirements.
  • Support the implementation of Microsoft security capabilities including Purview, Information Protection and access controls.
  • Participate in identity and privileged access improvements, including Zero Trust-aligned controls and Just-in-Time access.
  • Provide Level 2 and Level 3 support across Microsoft 365, Windows infrastructure, endpoint and identity services, acting as an escalation point for complex issues.
  • Undertake incident triage, root-cause analysis and resolution of complex or recurring issues, including support for cyber security incident response where required.
  • Support the technical implementation of approved AI and productivity capabilities within HIF’s Microsoft and hybrid environment, working with Information Security, Privacy and Data teams.
  • Provide technical support and integration assistance for contact centre and unified communication solutions, including Genesys Cloud.
  • Assist with troubleshooting connectivity and service issues across LAN, WAN, VPN, wireless, firewall and cloud environments, and support AWS and other cloud-hosted services where required.
  • Provide technical guidance, mentoring and escalation support to the Service Desk Analyst and Cloud Engineer.

What we're looking for in you

There are also some essential responsibilities that will ensure your success in this role;

  • 2–5+ years’ experience in a Level 2/3 systems, infrastructure or cloud engineering role, with demonstrated hands-on experience supporting a hybrid environment across on-premises Windows/Active Directory and Microsoft cloud services.
  • Strong technical knowledge of Microsoft and Windows enterprise environments, including Microsoft 365, Entra ID, Active Directory and hybrid identity.
  • Strong knowledge of endpoint and device management, including Microsoft Intune and Endpoint Configuration Manager.
  • Sound understanding of modern identity and access management, including MFA, Conditional Access, device compliance and privileged access.
  • Demonstrated experience diagnosing and resolving complex technical issues across infrastructure, identity, endpoint and cloud services, including within ITIL-based change and incident management processes.
  • Understanding of secure configuration and Zero Trust principles, and the ability to plan and implement technical change with minimal disruption to users.
  • Strong documentation skills, and the ability to manage workload across multiple concurrent initiatives.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with experience working collaboratively with internal stakeholders and third-party service providers.
  • Relevant Microsoft or infrastructure certifications (such as MD-102, MS-102, AZ-104, SAA-C03 or SC-300), or equivalent practical experience.
