About the role:
We are looking for a great communicator with experience leading, coaching, and motivating teams who wants a varied hands-on role and is passionate about promoting the visibility and awareness of, as well as the responsibility and accountability for, compliance management.
The Compliance Manager supports the Head of Risk and Compliance (RC) and the wider RC team, in attaining HIF’s strategic and other organisational objectives through the provision of leadership, advice and support in effective execution of robust compliance management.
The role centres around delivering the following:
- Lead the effective implementation of HIF’s Compliance Management Policy (CMP) across the organisation, including promoting awareness and accountability for compliance obligations and risks.
- Maintain and enhance, through the development of appropriate registers and reporting, HIF’s risk and compliance management system (Protecht) to ensure organisation-wide compliance risks are consistently recorded, monitored and reported on.
- Provide guidance and support to the business in monitoring and reviewing the effectiveness of the CMP.
- Create, maintain, schedule and deliver compliance management training and awareness initiatives.
- Implementation and management of key compliance control testing and report on results of focussed compliance reviews, including recommendations to improve the internal control environment.
- Manage annual Private Health Insurance Code of Conduct Self-Audits.
- Review operational business processes to identify potential process, obligation or compliance risks, or inefficiencies in controls, and suggest suitable process improvement initiatives to process owners for implementation.
- Assist in the preparation of appropriate reporting of compliance activities for the Board, HIF’s Leadership Team and Management.
What we're looking for in you:
- A minimum of 5+ years’ experience in a compliance and/or a risk and compliance related role.
- Demonstrated experience in the development, implementation and continuous improvement of compliance management frameworks.
- Experience within financial services or insurance industries.
- Good working knowledge of APRA Prudential Standards relevant to Private Health Insurance industry.
- Ability to interpret regulation and legislation, as well as standards and guidelines, that apply to the Private Health Insurance industry.
- Demonstrated knowledge of the Australian Standards Compliance Management Systems (AS ISO19600:2015).
- Ability to build relationships and influence both internal and external stakeholders at all levels.
- Ability to work in a high-pressure environment.
- Excellent written and communication skills and attention to detail.
- Experience in the use of Protecht.ERM / other Enterprise Risk Management systems is desirable.
