About the role:

The Risk and Resilience Consultant reports to the Risk and Resilience Lead and supports the broader Risk and Compliance (RC) team in delivering effective risk and opportunity management. The role has particular focus on building organisational resilience through the identification, assessment and management of operational risks while enhancing business continuity capability.

Essential responsibilities that will ensure your success in this role

  • Identify, assess and monitor operational risks across business units, including emerging and systemic risks
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of key risk indicators (KRIs) and risk appetite metrics related to operational risk.
  • Support the operation of our Risk Management Framework (RMF) including promoting awareness and accountability to strengthen good governance
  • Facilitate risk assessments, control reviews, and risk workshops with stakeholders
  • Assist in the implementation and maintenance of the Business Continuity Management (BCM) policy.
  • Conduct regular business impact analyses (BIA), including risk assessments, to identify critical business functions, resources and infrastructure and assess the impacts of potential business disruptions.
  • Assist with the co-ordination of operational risk and BCM related internal audit reviews and follow-up audits with internal stakeholders. 
  • Assist in identifying and maintaining the register of critical operations including other registers linked to CO in HIF’s risk management information system, as required under APRA CPS 230 Operational Risk Management Standard.
  • Assist with the co-ordination of operational risk and BCM related internal audit reviews and follow-up audits with internal stakeholders. 
  • Upload internal auditing findings, recommendations, and associated actions into HIF’s risk management information system in a timely manner.
  • Assist with the preparation of appropriate reporting for HIF’s Leadership Team and the Board Audit and Risk Committees, including the provision of insights on the organisation-wide risk and internal control environment.

What we’re looking for in you

  • A minimum of 2+ years’ experience in a risk and/or a risk and compliance related role and business continuity management within a regulated industry.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the Australian and New Zealand Risk Management Standard (AS/NZS 31000:2018).
  • Good working knowledge of APRA Prudential Standard CPS 220 Risk Management and CPS 230 Operational Risk Management and other relevant regulations.
  • Experience within financial services or professional services industries, with an understanding of regulated environments.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and attention to detail.

 Desirable

  • Experience in the use of Protecht.ERM / other Enterprise Risk Management systems
  • Knowledge of internal audit practices.
  • Experience in risk and BCM data analytics and reporting, with ability to extract insights, identify trends and present findings.
