 About the role:

We are looking for an individual who wants to take their skills to the next level in this permanent full-time opportunity. If you are passionate about promoting the visibility and awareness of, and responsibility and accountability for risk management within HIF, then read on.

Join our Risk and Compliance (RC) team as a Risk Manager, where you’ll play a key role in driving the implementation and continuous improvement of HIF’s Risk Management Framework across the organisation.

 The role centres around delivering the following:

  •  Supporting the Head of Risk and Compliance and wider Risk and Compliance team to achieve HIF’s strategic and organisational objectives.
  • Lead the effective implementation of HIF’s Risk Management Framework (RMF) across the organisation, including promoting awareness and accountability for risk obligations.
  • Maintaining, implementing and enhancing HIF’s Risk Management Framework, policies, procedures and supporting systems.
  • Providing expert risk advice, guidance and support to HIF’s Leadership Team and business units.
  • Promoting awareness, accountability and good governance by embedding risk management into HIF’s culture, decision-making and business practices.
  • Facilitating the identification, assessment, treatment, monitoring and reporting of material and business unit risks.
  • Preparing meaningful risk and internal control reporting for senior leaders, committees and the Board.
  • Supporting the development and assurance of internal controls, operational resilience activities and risk culture assessments.
  • Coordinating risk management education and training across the organisation.
  • Assisting with internal audit coordination, reporting, action tracking and management response review.
  • Leading, coaching and developing a capable, connected and high-performing risk team.
  • Creating a psychologically safe, inclusive and collaborative team environment where people are clear on expectations and supported to perform.


What we're looking for in you:

These are some essential things we will look for:

  •  A confident and experienced risk professional with at least five years’ experience in risk, or risk and compliance, ideally within a regulated environment.
  • Strong knowledge of AS/NZS 31000:2018, APRA Prudential Standard CPS 220 Risk Management, CPS 230 Operational Risk Management and other relevant APRA prudential standards.
  • Proven experience designing, implementing and continuously improving risk management frameworks and risk and compliance management systems.
  • The ability to influence, advise and collaborate with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Strong leadership capability, with experience guiding, mentoring and developing high-performing teams.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with strong attention to detail and the ability to translate risk information into clear insights.
  • The ability to work effectively in a high-pressure environment while applying sound judgement and a pragmatic approach.
  • A continuous improvement mindset, with the ability to identify opportunities to enhance risk processes, reporting, controls and culture.
  • Comfort working with risk data, reporting and insights to identify trends and support informed decision-making.
  • Experience in financial services or professional services, with private health insurance industry experience considered an advantage.
  • Knowledge of internal audit practices and experience using Protecht.ERM would be beneficial.
