About the role
We’re the Health Insurance Fund of Australia, but our friends call us HIF. We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Cloud Engineer to join our dynamic team and play a critical role in modernising and securing HIF’s digital infrastructure.
This role will focus on enabling scalable, secure, and intelligent solutions across both Microsoft 365 and Amazon Web Services (AWS) platforms, including the deployment of AI-driven technologies.
You will help shape the future of our workplace infrastructure and ensure that HIF is positioned to safely and effectively adopt emerging AI tools across cloud ecosystems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the uplift and optimisation of cloud-based endpoint management solutions using Microsoft Intune and Endpoint Configuration Manager (ECM/SCCM).
- Support the design, deployment, and optimisation of cloud infrastructure across Microsoft Azure and AWS, aligning with industry best practices and HIF’s security standards.
- Assist in securing HIF’s Microsoft 365 and AWS environments by implementing solutions such as Microsoft Purview, DLP, Information Protection, and AWS Identity and Access Management (IAM).
- Prepare both Microsoft 365 and AWS platforms for AI capabilities including Microsoft CoPilot, AWS Bedrock, and SageMaker by enabling secure access controls, data readiness, and permissions management.
- Assist in strengthening HIF’s Microsoft 365 security and compliance posture through the implementation of Microsoft Purview, Data Loss Prevention (DLP), and Information Protection.
- Participate in the rollout of Zero Trust-aligned policies including Conditional Access, device compliance, and identity protection measures.
- Prepare HIF’s Microsoft 365 environment for AI capabilities such as Microsoft CoPilot, ensuring secure access controls, appropriate data classification, and permissions management.
- Work with security, data, and information management teams to ensure AI tools are deployed in a compliant, privacy-conscious, and effective manner.
- Provide technical support, configuration, and integration assistance for contact centre and unified communication solutions, particularly Genesys Cloud or hybrid deployments.
- Collaborate with vendors and internal teams to maintain high availability, security, and performance of cloud-based communications platforms.
- Monitor network performance and troubleshoot voice, video, and data-related issues affecting collaboration tools and contact centre operations.
- Provide day-to-day guidance and support to a Support Analyst, fostering collaboration and ensuring effective delivery of operational support activities.
What we're looking for in you
There are also some essential responsibilities that will ensure your success in this role;
- Proven experience (2–5+ years) as a Cloud Engineer, Systems Engineer, or similar role, with strong hands-on expertise across Microsoft 365, Azure, and AWS platforms.
- Solid knowledge of endpoint and mobile device management (Intune, ECM/SCCM, MDM policies).
- Working knowledge of AWS services such as EC2, S3, RDS, IAM, Lambda, CloudFormation, and Systems Manager.
- Experience deploying or supporting AI and machine learning tools in Microsoft 365 (e.g., CoPilot) and/or AWS (e.g., Bedrock, SageMaker, Comprehend).
- High-level ability to troubleshoot and support secure connectivity and device compliance issues.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills; able to collaborate with IT and business stakeholders.
- Ability to manage workload across multiple concurrent initiatives.
- Experience supporting the deployment or configuration of Microsoft 365 AI solutions (e.g. CoPilot) including access and data readiness.
