Key Responsibilities

As Managing Consultant, you will:

Advisory & Client Delivery

  • Provide senior‑level advice to clients on privacy risks, compliance obligations and strategic privacy program development.
  • Oversee and conduct Privacy Impact Assessments, Privacy by Design reviews, and privacy audits.
  • Lead complex gap analyses and maturity assessments, offering pragmatic and actionable recommendations.
  • Provide clear, tailored expert advice on privacy law interpretation and application
  • Present insights, reports and recommendations to executive‑level clients and stakeholders.
  • Guide legal and policy research to support consulting, training and publications.
  • Represent Helios Salinger in public forums, thought leadership initiatives, and industry events.
  • Contribute to the design and refinement of privacy‑related training, tools and resources.

Leadership & Team Management

  • Lead, mentor and develop a small team of privacy consultants, fostering a collaborative, high‑performance culture.
  • Lead the preparation of proposals, quotes and tender responses, ensuring high‑quality, commercially sound submissions.
  • Provide oversight, guidance and quality assurance on all client deliverables.
  • Manage workload allocation, support team capability uplift, and ensure consistent delivery standards across projects.
  • Identify new business opportunities, nurture client relationships and contribute to the strategic growth of the practice.

About You

We’re seeking a privacy expert with:

  • Extensive senior experience in privacy consulting, in‑house privacy advisory, privacy compliance or risk, or a related privacy or data ethics role.
  • Deep experience conducting PIAs, privacy audits and privacy governance assessments across a range of sectors, technologies, products or services.
  • Proven experience managing and developing consulting teams.
  • Demonstrated success in preparing proposals, quotes or business development materials.
  • A high degree of comfort working with emerging technologies and advising on novel privacy challenges.
  • Extensive understanding of Australian and international privacy laws, regulatory trends and current privacy topics.
  • Knowledge of responsible AI principles, AI governance frameworks, and how to assess privacy risks in AI projects.
  • Legal qualifications or demonstrated ability to interpret and apply privacy principles.
  • Exceptional analytical and communication skills, with the ability to deliver high‑quality, tailored advice to diverse clients.
  • A passion for practical privacy protection, innovation and emerging data issues.
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills, with the ability to positively influence stakeholders at all levels.
  • Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities and lead a team.
  • Australian citizenship or residency with full work rights.
  • IAPP certifications (preferred).

Working With Us

This role offers flexibility to work from home, with clients supported either remotely or on‑site as required. While our clients are mostly based on the east coast, we welcome applications from across Australia.

This is a full‑time role. Due to the nature of our client work, these positions require exclusive commitment and are not suitable for secondary employment or contract work.
