We’re looking for a Liquor Buyer to curate ranges, shape promotions and build strong supplier partnerships while driving sales, margin, and growth.

In this role you’ll:

  • Lead liquor buying across our stores, supported by gourmet and fresh food ranges.
  • Set smart pricing & promotions that delight customers and deliver results.
  • Build strong supplier and stakeholder relationships.
  • Innovate with new products and category strategies to stay ahead of the market.

What you’ll bring:

  • Experience in liquor buying or FMCG buying (liquor preferred).
  • Strong commercial skills with P&L exposure.

Full Position Description

Responsibilities

1. Buying Product

  • Monitor stock levels and store orders, placing timely orders to meet demand.
  • Ensure stores and warehouse are always stocked to deliver customer needs.
  • Lead the liquor buying portfolio, aligning ranges to customer demand and business goals.

2. Product Ranging

  • Decide what stays, what goes, and what’s new, keeping ranges fresh and aligned to company strategy.
  • Drive the new product pipeline, with a focus on both liquor and gourmet offerings.

3. Pricing

  • Set everyday and promotional pricing, ensuring compliance across stores.
  • Establish profit goals for liquor, department, and Gourmet categories.

4. Suppliers

  • Build and manage long-term supplier partnerships.
  • Negotiate the best terms and support the team in their negotiations.

5. Stakeholder Engagement

  • Collaborate and communicate clearly with key stakeholders.
  • Optimise selling channels to achieve financial and business goals.
  • Build strong, ethical, and responsive relationships.

6. Innovation

  • Spot opportunities to boost sales and enhance the customer shopping experience.
  • Identify unique liquor products and trends to keep Harris Farm ahead of the market.

7. Merchandising

  • Plan effective product positioning and display to maximise sales and profit.

8. Promotional Planning

  • Partner with managers and suppliers to create promotions that deliver both short- and long-term sales growth.

9. Category Management

  • Develop and execute category strategies to stay relevant, profitable, and customer-focused.
  • Build processes and develop people to support long-term success.

Skills & Qualifications

  • Aligned with Harris Farm values and culture, with a passion for fresh food and liquor.
  • Extensive retail buying experience with FMCG suppliers (liquor buying experience strongly preferred).
  • Proven full P&L ownership and strong commercial performance.
  • Collaborative communicator with excellent teamwork skills.
  • Agile, proactive, and able to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong organisational skills, analytical mindset, and problem-solving ability.
  • Solid knowledge of supply & demand dynamics.
  • Skilled in Excel and computer systems.
  • Current driver’s licence with ability to travel across sites.
