We are currently searching for our next Production Supervisor!

The Production Supervisor is responsible for leading the day-to-day operations of the production team to ensure the safe, efficient, and compliant manufacture of high-quality products. This role drives operational performance by meeting key performance indicators (KPIs) relating to quality, food safety, productivity, and financial performance while fostering a positive team culture focused on continuous improvement. The Production Supervisor provides leadership, coaching, and support to team members, ensuring compliance with company policies, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), HACCP, and Workplace Health and Safety requirements.

Responsibilities

Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with all company policies, procedures, and legislative requirements.
  • Maintain high housekeeping standards across all production areas.
  • Monitor food safety and quality standards through regular inspections of product specifications, labelling, and temperature controls.
  • Ensure compliance with GMP, HACCP, and food safety systems.
  • Identify and report policy breaches and implement corrective actions where required.
  • Promote a safe working environment through the Workplace Health and Safety Management System (WHSMS).
  • Ensure workplace incidents, hazards, and near misses are reported and documented promptly.
  • Allocate and monitor the correct use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Conduct and oversee safe equipment start-up procedures. 

Operations

  • Supervise daily production activities to achieve production schedules and operational targets.
  • Coordinate staff allocation and rotation to maximise productivity and efficiency.
  • Ensure all production activities comply with GMP and HACCP requirements.
  • Work collaboratively with the Production Manager to minimise downtime and resolve machinery or process issues.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives to improve operational performance.
  • Facilitate regular team meetings to communicate operational updates and encourage employee feedback.
  • Ensure production staff have the equipment, materials, and resources required to complete orders accurately and efficiently.
  • Monitor production performance and implement corrective actions where necessary.

Administration

  • Prepare and maintain accurate production records and operational reports.
  • Monitor production KPIs and provide performance feedback to management.
  • Develop and manage staff rosters to ensure adequate labour coverage.
  • Maintain training and compliance records.

People Management

  • Lead, coach, and develop production team members.
  • Deliver effective onboarding and induction programs for new employees.
  • Ensure all employees complete required training and competency assessments.
  • Conduct probationary reviews and ongoing performance evaluations.
  • Provide mentoring and development opportunities to enhance employee capability.
  • Promote a positive, inclusive, and high-performing team culture.
  • Allocate work effectively and monitor individual performance.

Workplace Health & Safety

  • Promote and maintain a strong safety culture throughout the production facility.
  • Ensure compliance with all workplace health and safety legislation and company procedures.
  • Participate in safety audits, inspections, and risk assessments.
  • Ensure employees are trained in safe work practices and emergency procedures.

Other Responsibilities

  • Assist with special projects, including support for new store openings and production initiatives.
  • Manage competing priorities and respond effectively to changing operational requirements.
  • Perform additional duties as reasonably directed by management.

About you

We are looking for someone who loves food. Additionally, we are looking for someone with:

  • Good communication skills
  • Minimum 1–2 years' experience in a supervisory role within an FMCG, food manufacturing, or production environment.
  • Demonstrated leadership and people management skills.
  • Strong organisational and time management abilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Sound analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • High attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.

Desirable

  • Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
  • Knowledge of HACCP and food safety systems.
  • Experience managing production involving fresh or perishable products.
  • Understanding of Workplace Health and Safety legislation and practices.
