Dog Trainer
Hanrob Pet Hotels Heathcote is seeking a passionate and motivated Dog Trainer to join our growing Board & Train program, on a permanent full-time basis.
With a strong national reputation, Hanrob's training programs are delivered by some of the most skilled trainers in the industry and are known for achieving outstanding results for both dogs and their owners. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a well-established business while continuing to develop your skills and career in dog training.
This is a permanent full-time role, working 38 hours per week, Monday to Friday.
What you'll be doing:
- Support the growth and success of the Board & Train program in Heathcote
- Consult with pet parents to understand behavioural concerns and training goals
- Identify additional behavioural needs and provide clear, practical recommendations
- Develop and implement tailored training plans suited to each dog's temperament
- Train dogs in obedience, manners, and behavioural modification
- Address behavioural challenges such as anxiety, reactivity, hyperactivity, and aggression
- Monitor and document each dog's progress and development
- Educate owners on techniques to reinforce training outcomes at home
- Maintain clean, safe, and organised training environments
- Manage bookings, scheduling, and general administrative tasks as required
- Support client interactions, including providing advice and contributing to training-related sales conversations where needed
What we're looking for:
- Certificate IV in Training and Behaviour, or equivalent
- NDTF Certificate III, or equivalent
- A genuine passion for dog training, demonstrated through ongoing self-development such as seminars, workshops, courses, or independent learning
- Strong understanding of canine behaviour, body language, and breed-specific traits
- Experience working with dogs across a range of temperaments and behavioural challenges
- Confident handling skills with dogs of all sizes, breeds, and personalities
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to educate and support pet owners
- A flexible and adaptable approach to training methods, tailoring techniques to suit each dog
- Willingness to support other areas of the business when needed, including client consultations, providing advice, and contributing to sales conversations
- A proactive, can-do attitude with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Strong commitment to animal welfare and best-practice training
- Motivation to continue learning and growing within the industry
