About Us
Hamilton Locke is a law firm evolving the traditional approach to corporate and commercial legal services. We are constantly removing the layers of bureaucracy, reacting quickly to change, providing exceptional service and finding creative solutions to deliver smart advice.
We are part of the HPX Group, which was proudly named one of AFR BOSS Best Places to Work 2025. Within that group, Hamilton Locke was also recognised as Law Firm of the Year at the 2025 Australian Law Awards, a reflection of our commitment to doing things differently and creating an exceptional experience for both our people and clients.
We have offices in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth, Newcastle and Auckland, with our clients located across Australia, New Zealand, Europe and Asia.
The Role
We’re looking for an Associate / Senior Associate to join our growing Workplace & Employment team in Perth. This is an opportunity to work alongside Emily Cossgrove and play an integral part of her practice growth and development.
Emily’s practice involves advising clients on complex employment issues under the Fair Work Act 2009 (Cth), preparing executive employment arrangements , conducting workplace investigations and resolving industrial disputes. As a member of Emily’s team, you will work closely with Hamilton Locke’s national M&A teams to advise on employment aspects of commercial transactions.
We’re looking for someone:
- with at least 3 years’ experience (PQE);
- who has private practice employment law experience;
- with a genuine passion for employment and workplace law;
- who wants a fantastic team culture; and
- with an entrepreneurial and innovative mind-set.
Our people experience
What makes life at Hamilton Locke different?
We don’t just talk about balance and wellbeing - we invest in experiences that make work genuinely more rewarding.
Every year, our people have the chance to join the HPX Group Adventure Club - an all-expenses-subsidised trip that brings together colleagues from across Australia and New Zealand for a few days of adventure and connection. Past trips have taken us hiking in Hobart, jet boating in Queenstown and even bungee jumping (for the brave). It’s one of the ways we bring our values of collaboration, courage and fun to life.
We also run our da Vinci Development Program, which gives everyone the opportunity to explore something new - from pottery to pilates (or even climbing Mount Everest) with a subsidy to cover the cost and an extra week of annual leave to make time for it.
Because we know when our people are energised, curious and connected, that’s when we do our best work.
