About us
Hamilton Locke is law firm evolving the traditional approach to corporate and commercial legal services. We are constantly removing the layers of bureaucracy, reacting quickly to change, providing exceptional service, and finding creative solutions to deliver smart advice.
We are part of the HPX Group, which was proudly named one of AFR BOSS Best Places to Work 2025. Within that group, Hamilton Locke was also recognised as Law Firm of the Year at the 2025 Australian Law Awards, a reflection of our commitment to doing things differently and creating an exceptional experience for both our people and clients.
We have offices in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth, Newcastle and Auckland, with our clients located across Australia, New Zealand, Europe and Asia.
The role
We’re looking for a Lawyer / junior Senior Associate to join our Real Estate team in Brisbane. We’re a diverse group, and are looking for someone who is enthusiastic, hard-working and fun.
This is an opportunity to play a key role in shaping strategic advice, driving client relationships, and mentoring junior lawyers. You will have the opportunity to take ownership of matters, while being supported by senior leaders who value collaboration, curiosity, and commercial thinking. In particular, you will be working alongside Emile McPhee, Lisa Ward and Sarah Roettgers, who have extensive expertise across a wide range of commercial, agricultural and residential real estate matters.
We are looking for someone with:
- 3+ years’ experience in private practice or in-house;
- Exceptional client service skills and responsiveness;
- Strong time management and organisational skills;
- Attention to detail and the ability to consistently produce accurate, high quality work;
- The initiative to build client relationships and mentor junior team members;
- A positive attitude, seeking a fantastic team culture and collaborating across teams; and
- An entrepreneurial mindset and genuine interest in innovation and emerging technologies.
What’s in it for you
- Be mentored in a supportive environment, with access to quality work, great clients and professional development opportunities.
- A fun, collaborative and high-performing team environment with regular social events, training opportunities and personal and professional development opportunities.
- Flexible working arrangements.
- A clear and transparent performance bonus scheme.
- An extra week’s leave, as part of our employee personal development program.
- A day birthday leave.
- Support in building client relationships.
What makes life at Hamilton Locke different?
We don’t just talk about balance and wellbeing. We invest in experiences that make work genuinely more rewarding.
Every year, our people have the chance to join the HPX Group Adventure Club – a subsidised trip that brings together colleagues from across Australia and New Zealand for a few days of adventure and connection. Past trips have taken us hiking in Hobart, jet boating in Queenstown and even bungee jumping (for the brave). It’s one of the ways we bring our values of collaboration, courage and fun to life.
We also run our da Vinci Development Program, which gives everyone the opportunity to explore something new – from pottery to padel (or even climbing Mount Everest) with a subsidy to cover the cost and an extra week of annual leave to make time for it.
Because we know when our people are energised, curious and connected, that’s when we do our best work.
