The Hunting Guide under strict supervision, supports hunting and fishing trips for individuals and groups in support of client entertainment and operational requirements.

  • Pay Rate: Up to $16.50/hour, depending on experience.
  • Assignment Length: 2-year contract with a high possibility of extension and/or conversion based on performance and other factors.

Responsibilities:

  • Plans itinerary for hunting and fishing trips applying knowledge of countryside to determine best routes and sites.
  • May transport people, equipment, and supplies to hunting and fishing areas.
  • Explains hunting and fishing laws to ensure compliance.
  • Instructs members of party in use of hunting or fishing gear.
  • Administers first aid to injured individuals.
  • Assists with facilities, grounds, and equipment maintenance and repairs as required.
  • Cares for animals.
  • Job tasks, correctly performed, have minimal impact upon the viability of the organization.

Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of hands-on experience in hunting, fishing, and camping within the outdoor recreation or guide industry.
  • Valid non-commercial driver's license and a Hunter Education Certificate.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of hunting firearms, ammunition, and strict safety protocols.
  • Familiarity with game laws, habitats, field dressing, and specific species including deer, nilgai, javelina, hog, quail, and dove.
  • Ability to lift up to 100 lbs unassisted and work outdoors in all weather conditions.
  • Basic skills in auto mechanics, plus minor property maintenance (carpentry, plumbing, or electrical repair is a plus).
  • Strong communication abilities to effectively lead and guide hunting trips.
  • Highly self-motivated with a strong team-player mindset.
  • Willingness to reside in a remote area of South Texas.
