The Logistics Specialist under direct supervision, responsible for the movement of domestic and international goods in compliance with local and international law.

  • Pay Rate: Up to $29.20/hour, depending on experience.
  • Assignment Length: 6-month contract with a high possibility of extension and/or conversion based on performance and other factors.
  • Shift Details: Monday - Friday | Shift

Job Overview:

This role coordinates the efficient movement of cargo from origin to destination across multiple transport modes, ensuring products meet delivery requirements while maintaining high standards of cost containment and profitability. The position involves interfacing with customers, managing logistics systems like SAP, and performing physical cargo preparation to optimize the economic benefit of the logistics services provided.

Responsibilities:

  • Apply knowledge of all possible movement constraints, experience in one or two transport modes (Ocean, Air, or Land), and expertise in hazardous movements.
  • Coordinate pre-shipping instructions and work closely with service providers on movements.
  • Manage orders for the shipment of cargo from point of origin to point of destination, ensuring the most efficient delivery method while keeping customers apprised of progress.
  • Maintain all files in strict accordance with shipping requirements.
  • Gather data on service provider value and analyze short-term business needs to plan shipment movements effectively.
  • Utilize SAP and other logistics systems to perform duties and ensure correct, timely movement transactions.
  • Record data measurements to follow trends and identify alternative ways to improve logistics services and economic benefits.
  • Pack, mark, label, and measure cargo to provide accurate weights and dimensions.
  • Ensure job tasks are performed correctly to directly impact cost containment, efficiency, profitability, and operations.
  • Assist Finance and Accounting (F&A) with the validation of rates and charges on invoices.

Qualifications:

  • Completion of a two-year degree (or equivalent) in Logistics, Supply Chain, Information Systems, or Engineering.
  • Bachelor’s degree is preferred.
  • 1–2 years of experience in logistics and supply chain coordination.
  • IATA/IMDG certification may be required based on the scope of work.
  • Logistics experience and supply chain coordination.
  • Planning and problem-solving.
  • Strong communication skills and attention to detail.
