Tax Supervisor - Direct Hire (Onsite Houston, TX)

The Tax Supervisor with general autonomy, supports tax reporting, compliance, audit and/or planning with a core understanding of prevailing statutory authority and it's applicability to financial (general ledger) data.

• Salary: $125,000.00 - 170,000.00 per year/depending on experience

Responsibilities:

• Lead activities supporting the financial close process, including account reconciliations, tax form preparation, and the collection of supporting financial pronouncements and tax technical research.
• Review the work of junior staff and prepare technical memoranda for Tax Managers to support tax technical positions in financial statements and statutory tax filings.
• Support audit defense of tax positions and explore planning opportunities to optimize the company's effective tax rate and cash tax position.
• Assist with the identification, implementation, and maintenance of internal controls.
• Demonstrate a strong understanding of the fundamentals across the group you supervise, in addition to your area of expertise.
• Oversee the career development and supervision of personnel within your technical focus area and manage personnel-related functions.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of related experience in accounting and tax.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and leadership abilities.
• Proficiency in tax software and Microsoft Office Suite.
