The Senior Mechanical Designer under general supervision, develops engineering changes and engineering drawings for complex equipment with minimal design requirements and instructions.
- Pay Rate: $35.00 - $40.00/hour, depending on experience.
- Assignment Length: 6 months with the high possibility of extension or conversion based on performance and other factors.
- Shift Details: 40 hours | Monday - Friday | 7:00 am - 3:30 pm | 8:00 am - 5:00 pm
Responsibilities:
- Apply sound engineering design logic and judgement to develop innovative solutions to design problems.
- Create accurate and detailed part CAD models.
- Develop and manage product structures in PDM systems.
- Ensure drafting quality in design documentation.
- Review and verify the completeness and accuracy of drawings created by other design personnel.
- Conduct tolerance studies on tools to ensure proper equipment function.
- Utilize and share expertise in materials and methods.
- Apply knowledge of manufacturing, production processes, operations, and maintenance practices to designs.
- Incorporate reliability, HSE, and quality analysis techniques during the design process.
Qualifications:
- Associate's degree in drafting or a related discipline with 7 years of related experience, or 9 years of related drafting/design experience.
- Proficient in preparing complex design layouts and schematics based on rough sketches or instructions from engineering personnel, with some latitude for independent design judgement.
- Awareness of tolerance requirements for proper equipment function.
- Expertise in SolidWorks and AutoCAD.
- Experience in large assembly file management.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Proficiency in sheet metal and piping design.
- SolidWorks certification is a plus, but not required.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
- Attention to detail and commitment to quality.
