Tax Manager - Direct Hire (Onsite: Houston, TX)

The Tax Manager under broad direction, manages a tax technical field of responsibility within tax advisory, accounting, compliance and/or indirect taxes.

• Salary: $109,000.00 - 150,000.00 per year/depending on experience

Responsibilities:

• Manage multiple functions with a focus on geographical reporting.
• Actively manage personnel, activities, and deadlines in support of the financial close process, account reconciliations, and financial pronouncements.
• Serve as a company advocate and advisor in one or more substantive areas of tax law, whether by subject matter or geography.
• Manage audit defense of tax positions and explore planning opportunities to optimize the company's effective tax rate and cash tax position.
• Ensure compliance with internal controls in your respective area.
• Oversee functions and responsibilities of staff, preparing and reviewing technical memoranda in support of tax technical positions in financial statements and statutory tax filings.
• Responsible for the career development and coaching of personnel.

Qualifications:

• Undergraduate degree in Accounting or a related field, with 7 years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and competency.
• Applicable professional certification preferred.
• Thorough understanding of prevailing statutory authority and its applicability to financial (general ledger) data.
• Excellent personal communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
