Mechanical Assembler (Onsite: Lafayette, LA)

The Mechanical Assembler working under limited supervision, performs a variety of assembly operations associated with the manufacturing of explosive products, small mechanical or electro-mechanical parts, or equipment housing or large equipment such as engines, engine and PTO drive trains, gas compressors, control equipment, covers/cowlings, related connecting lines, etc.

  • Pay Rate: Up to $20.00/hour, depending on experience
  • Assignment Length: 6-month contract with a high possibility of extension and/or conversion based on performance and other factors.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform fitting, mounting, alignment, adjusting, and operational testing of products.
  • Conduct in-depth troubleshooting and diagnosing of assembly issues.
  • Train other personnel in assembly processes and safety protocols.
  • Hand-assemble detonating devices and other explosive products with precision and care.
  • Operate and program semi-automated manufacturing presses and automated powder weighing machines.
  • Maintain and issue safety equipment to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Adhere to all safety guidelines and protocols when handling explosive materials.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • 2-3 years of related assembly experience preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail and precision in assembly tasks.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and diagnose technical issues effectively.
  • Excellent communication skills for training and collaboration.
  • Commitment to safety and adherence to safety protocols.
