The Principal Mechanical Designer under general direction, provides technical expertise to design project teams. Completes entire design projects with minimal supervision.
- Pay Rate: $35.00 - $50.00/hour, depending on experience.
- Assignment Length: 6 month contract with the high possibility of extension or conversion based on performance and other factors.
- Shift Details: Monday - Friday | 7:30 am - 3:30 pm | 8:00 am - 5:00 pm
Responsibilities:
- Develop and manage product structures in PDM systems.
- Ensure the drafting quality of design team documentation.
- Review and verify the completeness and accuracy of drawings created by other design personnel.
- Conduct tolerance studies on tools to ensure proper equipment function.
- Contribute to cost containment, efficiency, and profitability through correctly performed job tasks.
Qualifications:
- Associate's degree in drafting or a similar discipline, with 8 years of related experience, or 10 years of related drafting/design experience.
- Working knowledge of oil industry technology, including oil field equipment and operations as it applies to the assigned area.
- Incorporate reliability, HSE, and quality analysis techniques during the design process.
- Proficient in the application of PSL product knowledge.
- Expertise in creating accurate and detailed part CAD models.
- Proficient in preparing complex design layouts and schematics based on rough sketches or instructions from engineering personnel, with wide latitude for independent design judgment.
- Awareness of tolerance requirements for proper equipment function.
- Expert-level proficiency in SolidWorks and AutoCAD, including SolidWorks PDM.
- Strong communication skills.
- Technical skills in sheet metal, piping, and large assemblies.
- SolidWorks certification is a plus, but not required.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
